Hi, y’all! I’m here with one of my all-time favorite tips to help you with your 2022 goal setting! This easy task doesn’t take a lot of time but will help you move forward with action this year.
I’m a huge believer in the power of dreaming and setting goals. It can be absolutely life-changing for both your business and your life. That being said, please don’t be intimidated by goal setting. It doesn’t have to be some drawn out, complicated thing.
In fact, today I’m going to show you a tip that will get your goal setting for the year done in just 10 minutes! Seriously!!
What You Need for Goal Setting
Remember I told y’all I was going to keep this simple. For this type of goal setting, all you need to have on hand is a journal and your phone.
If you don’t have a journal, you can grab a post-it, a blank sheet of paper, the back of an envelope…anything you can jot a few notes on. That being said, I HIGHLY recommend getting a journal if you can. I would even go as far as to say that my journal is one of my top essential tools for my business and design planning!
My Number One Tip for Goal Setting
Okay, ready to hear the easiest, best way to learn how to set goals? Here it is:
First, I want you to grab your phone, and set a timer for 10 minutes. Then, go through all your photos from the last year. I know, this may seem like it has nothing to do with goal setting, but you’ll see the connection in just a minute!
Next, I want you to screenshot your 2 favorite photos from the year. If you have tens of thousands of photos (like I do!) it may be hard to narrow it down, but pick the two that really stick out.
Look at those photos and think about WHY they make you so happy. This helps us to remember what was great about the last year (even in a year as odd as the last few have been!).
Instead of thinking about what you didn’t get done last year, think about the things that brought you joy.
Then, get out your journal and think about how you can structure your life this year to have more of those moments you screenshotted. How can you replicate the experience or the moment?
Take the time to reflect and think about what it is that YOU really want. Thinking about what makes you happy is so much more effective than scrolling and comparing to what others are doing. Remember that social media is the highlight real – we aren’t posting the worst of our lives or the mundane, but more the highlight real.
These are the things we want to build our day-to-day lives around…what brings us joy! Here’s how to make time in your day to accomplish these goals.
