Let’s talk about something that might just change the way you tackle life’s curveballs: pivoting. Yep, that little word could be your hidden superpower—if you’re brave enough to embrace it. So, get comfy and let’s dive into why pivoting (and a sprinkle of anxiety) can turn your creative business setbacks into epic comebacks.

Turning Failures into Wins

Let’s be real—facing failure isn’t exactly a walk in the park. There have been plenty of moments when giving up seemed like the easiest route. Trust me, I’ve been there too! But instead of throwing in the towel, I chose to pivot. And guess what? That decision turned those moments into awesome opportunities for my paint party business. Pivoting isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it’s totally worth it when you realize that failure is just a part of your journey to success.

Your Secret Weapon

Here’s a fun twist: anxiety might just be your secret weapon. I know, I know—it sounds crazy. Anxiety has definitely played its not-so-great role in my life, but when paired with pivoting, it becomes a powerhouse. That nagging feeling? It can actually push you to get things done with a sense of urgency. Instead of letting anxiety freeze you, use it to fuel your drive. Manage it, and watch how it transforms into a tool that helps you tackle new challenges and set bigger goals in the creative business world.

Shift Your Perspective

The magic happens when you change how you look at things. Instead of seeing anxiety and failure as roadblocks, view them as opportunities to pivot and grow. It’s all about perspective. When you shift your mindset, those scary moments become chances to learn and adapt. Each setback is just a new path waiting to be explored. Pretty cool, right?

Inspiration from Mother Teresa

Ever heard the poem “Do It Anyway” by Mother Teresa? Pixie had to memorize it in 7th grade, and it’s stuck with me ever since. The poem is a powerful reminder that no matter what challenges come your way, there’s always another way forward. It’s all about perseverance and finding that alternate solution. This is how it goes:

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

When you’re tempted to quit, think back to those powerful lines and let them inspire you to keep moving and pivot when needed.

Fail Forward

Here’s the deal: failing is totally okay. In fact, it’s something we should welcome! Each failure teaches us something new and helps us refine our approach. When you pivot after a stumble, you’re not giving up on your goals—you’re finding a smarter way to achieve them. Every day is a fresh chance to try again, armed with the lessons from yesterday. So, embrace those fails, learn from them, then keep painting and moving forward.
