Do you ever just go wander? Just jump in the car and head down the road in search of little shops to help inspire you?
My father-in-law was in town and we decided to explore. We took a drive to a giant pawn shop in Mineral Wells and had a ton of fun! I’m not the biggest fan of pawn shops, but this one was different. It took over an hour just to walk through the place and see a fraction of what was there. My husband found a few treasures and I found a penguin I want to use for a Christmas project.
My daughter loved the toy section and found a really old barbie scooter which her sweet Grandpa bought for her. After we left there we stopped at a Furniture and Mercantile store!
This place REALLY inspired me!
The owner and his team creates all the furniture by hand and the finished products are amazing. I talked to him for a little while and asked about buying some scrap wood from him. He showed my husband and I several piles and let us choose some old wood and scrap tin. He said if I’m a fast painter I can come back and buy a whole pallet for $45! I can’t wait to go back! Oh and they had tons of jewelry and this really cute hat I couldn’t live without.
Spend some time wandering this summer! Look at what others create and try to think about what inspired them to create. Hopefully this will help you get excited about your own project!
This day reminds me of one of my favorite quotes: Not all who wander are lost.
