Let’s paint a Palm Tree today!! I’m going to teach step-by-step how to paint this fun palm tree. I originally painted this on 3 small canvases but today I am going to just paint one on a bigger canvas. This palm tree painting is so much fun to paint and super easy! So, let’s paint!
Paint the Background
I grabbed 3 colors for my background, Purple Pizazz, Joyful Pink and Sweet Mint. I just squeezed a little of each color on the canvas then grabbed a dry chip brush and spread the paint around. Just paint in a figure 8. The colors will start to blend and that’s OK! Now, I really wanted some of the blue paint on the top of my canvas. If you want the same just grab a paper towel and dip it in the paint then dab it on the canvas!
Time to Paint a Palm Tree!
I’m going to use just a little bit of White Paint, some Brown Paint and a little bit of black paint. Take your flat brush and just mix some of the brown and white paint, but not too much. This will give your palm tree some dimension. Then paint a curved line to get the shape of the palm tree trunk. Then using just, the brown you can add a shadow on the outside of the palm tree trunk. Next grab a liner brush and some black paint to add the lining on the trunk and coconuts.
Now grab some Irish Moss and a Kelly Green, these are good tree colors, especially for palm trees! Using a flat brush and start with the Kelly Green to paint the palm fronds. Do the same with the Irish Moss paint over the Kelly Green. It’s so much fun to add another layer of color.
Add The Little Details
With just a couple brush strokes you can add the highlights using white paint. Just some lines and dots. This painting is so easy, it only took me about 20 mins! It’s such a fun and whimsical painting. This painting is perfect for a paint party, kids and adults! It would probably take them about an hour to complete.
