Hey there, creative souls! Heidi here, and I’m thrilled to take you on a virtual tour of my art studio. Fair warning: while it’s pretty clean right now, it’s usually a glittery, paint-splattered mess—just the way I like it. Let’s dive in!
The Seasonal Painting Haven
This studio has history! I think it used to be a jazzercise room (can you imagine?), but now it’s packed with paintings organized by season. Winter, spring, summer, and fall each have their own section. Pro tip: organizing your art by season keeps you ready for themed events year-round.
Canvas Central and Paint Palettes
The studio is filled with canvases, some blank and others sublimated and ready to go. Stencils are also hanging and organized by season, making it easy to grab exactly what I need for any project. Pixie (my awesome daughter and helper) and I recently started using palettes at our paint parties. Not only are they fun, but they also help people use less paint. Who knew?!
The Paint Wall
One of the most asked-about features in my studio is the paint wall. My husband Bobby built it using simple L brackets and trim—nothing fancy, just pre-painted wood that holds all my paints perfectly. It’s a functional and colorful addition that makes grabbing the right color a breeze.
Glitter Wars
If you’ve ever met me, you know glitter is non-negotiable. Pixie and I love it, but my husband? Not so much. Still, you can never have too much sparkle, right?! From varnishes and Mod Podge to spray paint and glitter galore, this area is a crafter’s paradise. Ask me if you should add glitter… my answer– ALWAYS!
Brushes for Days
One of my proudest accomplishments? This collection of brushes. From chip brushes to palette knives, we’ve got everything we need for big paint and sip events. When I first started, I could barely scrape together enough brushes for a party. Now, I’m ready for anything!
Storage Secrets
The attic spaces function like mini art stores. From six-foot porch leaners and easels to brushes and aprons, everything has its place. When prepping for paint parties, Pixie is a packing pro, getting all the paint cups, plates, and supplies ready. Buying in bulk has been a game-changer for us.
Cozy and Creative Corners
My studio wouldn’t be complete without the fireplace and TV. The fireplace, which we snagged at Big Lots, is a lifesaver in the winter months. It adds warmth and a cozy vibe, making it my favorite spot to work on cold days. The TV doesn’t get used much, but when it does, it’s usually playing a favorite movie while I’m designing and painting.
The Poster with a Purpose
A poster across from my art table keeps me grounded whenever I go LIVE on social media. It reminds me to pray for inspiration, focus on teaching and inspiring others, and always make it about the audience. It’s a small thing, but it helps me stay centered and intentional with everything I share.
Dreamy Decor
One of my favorite features is the chandelier. It’s like stepping into Miranda Lambert’s closet, but with more glitter. Haha! The mural behind the fireplace adds a beachy vibe with waves, surfboards, and the word “Dreamer”—a little reminder to keep dreaming big.
Art Everywhere
From self-portraits Pixie and I painted to gifts from friends and family, this studio is filled with memories. One piece that stands out is a quote by Marianne Williamson that I painted years ago: “You are a child of God. You playing small doesn’t serve the world.” It’s a daily reminder to shine brightly.
Create, Inspire, Thrive
Whether you’re just starting your paint party journey or you’re a seasoned pro, I hope this peek into my studio inspires you. Remember, you don’t need a perfect space to create—just a little corner to let your imagination run wild. Now, go make something beautiful!
