Making $4500 in one day from just one paint party – is that even legal?! It sounds like an unreachable number, but it happened to me, and it could happen to you too!

After over a decade of throwing paint parties, I’m sharing my tips on how to maximize your earning potential in this creative field (and have a whole lot of fun doing it!).

How I Made $4500 in One Day at One Paint Party!

First, allow me to set the stage for you. I have this memory of washing. what seemed like, endless paintbrushes after a successful paint party (woo!). And while my grandmother was commenting on the amount of clean-up I still had to do, I knew it was all worth it.

I pulled out this black bag just stuffed with cash – I’m talking a crazy amount of money. It felt like I had robbed a bank! My grandma and I were shocked by the sheer amount of bills I was pulling out of the bag; with each new pocket, more flew out.

In total, I made $4160 teaching this paint party to 119 people. With the bonus kits, I ended up with almost $4600 for the night. Yup, that’s some serious cash.

If you’re just starting (or in a bit of a paint party rut), making this kind of revenue in a single night could seem completely out of reach. But with plenty of hard work, creative inspiration, and the right resources, you can reach your goal revenue in no time!

8 Tips to Maximize Your Paint Party Revenue

Here are ten of my top tips to maximize your paint party earning potential:

1. Know Your Worth

As artists, we’re notorious for giving things away for free. Because we love the work we do, sometimes it feels like we shouldn’t be allowed to make money from it.

But this couldn’t be further from the truth!

People want to pay you for your gifts, and you deserve to make good money when sharing these gifts.

Be confident in what you offer the world and have your price point reflect that.

2. Defeat Imposter Syndrome

It can feel discouraging starting a paint party business, knowing there are so many artists with goals similar to your own.

But there is enough to go around!

Remember that cream always rises to the top – you don’t need to worry about competition because you’re going to give your clients the best paint party ever.

3. Let Your Lookbook Work for You

If you really want to make $4500 in one day, you’ve got to check out PPHQ! When you join Paint Party Headquarters (my personal paint party resource haven!), you’ll get access to a lookbook with tons of gorgeous designs.

At my paint parties, I’ll bring print-outs of this lookbook for guests to peek at. If they like a design, I’ll use that as a jumping-off point to book their next party in advance!

For more booking advice, simply follow my “Magic Scripts” resource guide (also available through PPHQ), giving you all the confidence and keywords you need to secure that next booking.

4. Join a Paint Party Challenge

The perfect way to push yourself is by doing a paint party challenge! I have a free challenge available through PPHQ that will help you profit from every party you throw.

Even if you don’t start out making $4500 in one day, this is a great way to find direction in your business plan, keep up with the latest social media trends, and find marketing tips to maximize your earning potential.

5. Do What Inspires You

With any business, there’s an ebb and flow.

You may start strong with tons of inspiration and drive, then lose momentum when work slows down. I often experience this pattern in the winter months, moving from an intense holiday season to a far quieter January.

Finding a way to get past this slump is no easy task, but once you know how to re-inspire yourself, you can ride this change in momentum without getting discouraged.

Personally, I use January as a time to take a much-needed breath and re-energize my creative spirit. This can be as simple as going for a walk outside or taking a trip to Barnes and Noble with my daughter, flipping through inspiring design books.

For more inspiration, I highly recommend joining me over at PPHQ. It connects you with an entire community of paint party artists, along with design ideas, marketing tips, and more. You’ll even receive a content calendar filled with creative prompts for every day of the year!

6. Push Past Your Comfort Zone

They say that growth happens when you move outside of your comfort zone. I couldn’t agree more.

I encourage you to take risks with your paint parties, try designs that may intimidate you, believe in your ideas, and be brave enough to share your passion with your guests.

Your bravery will pay off, bringing your business to new heights! I would have never made $4500 in one day had I not been open to taking risks, and failing plenty of times beforehand.

7. Remember it’s Business – Not Personal

Some days, you’re going to feel like a total superstar, selling out your paint party and receiving nothing but glowing feedback.

On other days, your paint party gets canceled. Full stop.

Success comes in waves, and it can be hard to find confidence during the down times. But by separating my identity from my business, I’m able to take a step back and remove a bit of emotion.

It’s business, not personal.

If I quit every time a party got canceled or didn’t go as planned, I would have never reached my business goals. Swallow the loss, and keep it pushing!

8. Know When to Put the Work Down

When you’re in a business as fun as this one, work-life boundaries tend to get a bit blurred.

I’m a huge believer in working hard but also in having fun!

As you’re busy working your butt off, there needs to be a WHY! Business takes sacrifice, but you don’t need to sacrifice everything.

You have to enjoy life for all of your hard work to be worth it, so remember to put the work down once in a while.

If that’s not enough motivation alone, maintaining your joy will translate directly to your paint parties, making them more enjoyable (and profitable) in the long run!
