Recently, I did something that scared me out of my mind—I walked into Ramsey Solutions Studios with a hand-painted gazelle under my arm, ready to pitch a creative partnership that blended art with financial freedom. It felt bold. It felt wild. And I absolutely had to do it scared.

The Fear Doesn’t Go Away—It Just Changes
For over two decades, I’ve been teaching paint parties, but that doesn’t mean the fear goes away. It just changes. Moving to a new state, starting fresh, and stepping into a space I’ve admired for years? Terrifying, but totally worth it. Because I’ve learned the only way to grow is to stop waiting until you feel ready.

From Bankruptcy to Brushes
Brave steps weren’t always in my vocabulary. Before I turned 30, I filed for bankruptcy. I lost my home, my car, and my confidence. Back then, I was painting wooden surfboards on my lunch breaks while teaching art to over 800 kids a week. That tiny act of creating helped me rediscover what I loved—and eventually sparked a business that changed everything.

Around that same time, I found Dave Ramsey’s podcast. I’d listen during long drives, often crying when people shared their “debt-free scream.” Once, I got so emotional during one of those episodes that I didn’t realize how fast I was driving and got pulled over mid-cry. The officer didn’t let me off the hook, but he did understand—turns out, his mom was a fan too. Haha!

Building Something That Matters
Years later, I created Paint Party Headquarters to help other women use creativity to earn extra income. Over the past seven years, I’ve watched thousands of women turn a paintbrush into possibility. Some paid off debt, some funded vacations or kids’ summer camps, and some simply reclaimed confidence. The transformation has been incredible!

The Outcome—and the Real Win
So yes, I did it scared. I painted and prepped, And I walked into that studio with a dream. And the answer?
They turned me down.
Not forever. Just for now.
So I’m not giving up… and I’m still proud. Because showing up scared is still showing up. And failing? That’s not the problem. Avoiding failure is.

You cannot build something meaningful if you’re spending your whole life trying not to fail. Failure is required. It’s the process, the lesson, and the thing that sharpens you. And if I’ve learned anything from all the ups and downs—it’s that failing is what makes you better.
