Words hold a lot of power don’t they? But have you really stopped to think about just how much power they do hold? Today, we’re not just painting lips; we’re painting a canvas of inspiration and empowerment! So grab your brushes and let’s get started!

While painting lips, I couldn’t help but think about the profound influence of words, which are kind of like brushstrokes…but on the canvas of life. They shape our experiences and perceptions. From my own journey, I’ve gained a few insights that I’d love to share! These are the three lessons I’ve learned along the way.

1. Words Are Powerful

When you encounter someone’s success story on social media, what’s your initial reaction? I’ll admit, I used to be the most negative person ever! I felt as if I wasn’t allowed to have good things. I couldn’t even take a compliment! Though a natural human reaction, when words of jealousy fill your thoughts, you have to learn to think “how can I change this?’ Be intentional with your words. Switch to positive thinking. Train yourself to think differently and embrace a mindset of possibility. “If they can achieve it, so can I!” This simple switch can make all the difference!

2. Put Your Blinders On

Competition often instills fear in entrepreneurs. Yet, competition isn’t a threat; it’s an opportunity for growth. No competition = no business. Just like multiple McDonald’s thrive in the same vicinity, diversity in paint party businesses enriches the experience for all. People will fall in love with your style of teaching. For example, some of my PPHQ members have a dance break and do the Electric Slide?! How cool is that? My point is, different people cater to different personalities! Embrace your unique strengths and stay focused on your path. Playing the comparison game with words of self doubt, is a waste of time because we could go out teach a paint night and make money instead of never getting anything done. Stop giving negative people and nay-sayers the time, power and attention. Time is our most valuable resource! As JLo once said, “I’ll outwork anybody in the room.” Let’s adopt that same drive and determination in pursuing our own dreams!

3. Define Your Success

Success isn’t one-size-fits-all; it’s as diverse as the individuals pursuing it. Whether it’s restoring vintage cars or hosting paint parties, each of us has our own definition of success. My husband finds joy in tinkering with engines, while painting all day is what lights me up!

When we were younger, we lived in this snake-infested trailer, so I would go to my in-laws to do laundry. I loved going because they always had Tide and Tostitos chips! It felt like the stupidest thing, but my definition of success in that moment was– “if I could just afford name brand chips and detergent, life would be good.” (I love a good name-brand chip!) You see, it’s essential to align our goals with our passions and values. So next time you find yourself scrolling through social media, pause and reflect on what truly brings you joy. Don’t chase someone else’s dream; chase your own!
